What is Humanism?

Humanism embraces the ability of the individual to bring advances to society using logic and science and is often referred to as "a religion based on reason."  Unlike theic religions, Humanism deals with the natural world and has no need for belief in anything supernatural.  We are part and product of nature itself, tracing our heritage back to when life first appeared on this planet over two billion years ago and we delight in the parts we play in our lifetimes to make a contribution to the ever lengthening legacy of humankind.
Ronald Haines is an ordained Humanist.

Philosophy or Religion While both disciplines deal with the search for truth and the nature of reality, philosophy has no celebrations or recognition for special life events or important times of year.  Since humanism enjoys sharing these celebrations it is, by definition, a religion.
